CARD: First Timer's Guide!

This is a post dedicated to all the first time scrap card makers! But of course those who are already experienced can also use this as a reference.
So it goes like this, it is your BESTEST friend's birthday and you want to do something special for him/her. Of all things, you have decided to make him/her a scrap card as it would show your sincerity and it is ONE OF A KIND.
So, what should you do?

Step 1:
Choose a theme. Something that your friend likes. Eg. Food, Shopping, Fashion, Music, Vintage, etc. For the card that I made, I choose FOOD.

Step 2:
Head down to the nearest scrapbooking shop and get cracking with the materials you need! For first timers, you will probably be overwhelmed by the wide selection of papers, materials and what not. So be sure to keep you cool! Browse through all the materials slowly and take those which fits your theme. Don't worry so much about the amount, yet.

Step 3:
After you have gotten all your materials that you want, try to match the papers up and get rid of those that doesn't fit the theme or are too expensive. You don't want to spend so much on it especially if you are getting a gift too. It is advisable that you get papers that have pictures on them as you can do a 'cut and paste' concept card (the simplest method).

Now that you have all the materials, you can either back home or to a nearby cafe (if you don't want to mess your house up) and start piecing you card together!

Step 4:
Once at home/cafe, put all the materials you have on the table and start deciding on how you want you card to be like. For mine, I have choosen a paper that looks like menu and with that I start to cut out pictures that i want to paste on the base paper. One good thing about the 'cut and paste' concept is that the card will appear nice no matter how badly you 'cut and paste' the pieces on. So for starters, it would be easier for you to have a 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' wording on the card and just paste the other pieces all over.

Step 5:
Time for the message! For the message, you can get ready printed papers that have lines on them and simply paste it at the back of the card. This way, you don't have to worry about having croaked handwritings.

And with that, you are done with your card! It is not easy to make a scrap card, it takes time and patience. But at the end of the day when you see your card and the happiness on the receiver's face, you will truly know that it is worth it!
